How the raise calculator works
Choose whether your pay is an annual salary or an hourly rate, then enter the raise as a percentage or as your new pay. Hourly figures are converted to annual pay with your weekly hours and 52 weeks. The projection repeats the same percentage each year so you can see how raises compound. For more context, read how to calculate a raise, or compare the new rate with the hourly to salary calculator.

Worked examples
A 4% raise on $55,000
- $55,000 × 1.04 = $57,200.00.
- Increase: $2,200.00 a year, $183.33 a month.
From $22.00 to $23.50 an hour
- (23.50 − 22.00) ÷ 22.00 × 100 = 6.82%.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a raise percentage?
Subtract your old pay from your new pay, divide by your old pay, and multiply by 100. Going from $22.00 to $23.50 an hour is (23.50 − 22.00) ÷ 22.00 × 100 = 6.82%.
How much is a 3% raise on $50,000?
$50,000 × 0.03 = $1,500 a year, so the new salary is $51,500. That is $125 a month or about $57.69 per biweekly paycheck before taxes.
Is a raise the same every year if I get the same percentage?
No. Each raise applies to your new, higher pay, so the dollar amount grows. Five 3% raises on $55,000 take you to $63,760.07, not $63,250.
Does a raise change my take-home pay by the same amount?
Not exactly. The raise is gross pay. Your take-home pay rises by less because taxes and some deductions grow with your pay.
How do I convert an hourly raise to a yearly amount?
Multiply the hourly increase by your hours per week and by 52. A $1.50 raise at 40 hours a week is $1.50 × 40 × 52 = $3,120 a year.
