Common questions

How is commission calculated?

Multiply sales by the commission rate as a decimal: $40,000 at 6% is $2,400.

What is the difference between marginal and retroactive tiers?

In a marginal plan each rate applies only to sales in its band. In a retroactive plan, reaching a tier applies its rate to all sales.

How does a commission cap work?

Under a capped split, you pay the brokerage its share until your payments for the year reach the cap. After that, you keep the full commission, apart from any fees, until the cap year resets.

Does commission count toward overtime?

For nonexempt employees, commissions are generally part of the regular rate used for overtime under federal rules.
